I was at the Ritzy Cinema in Brixton on the sunday and could see a man with an axe roaming Windrush Square and hacking up parked bikes and shit... and then we got evacuated to the back of the building, and a line of police were blocking the road and directed us towards to the square! Luckily the guy with the axe wasn't there, but I then realised i wouldn't be able to get a bus home to Streatham, as on the high street the Footlocker was ablaze, and shops were being looted left, right and center. Riot police were moving in just as I started the walk home. Crazy times!

Man, I've only just found you but shit you have some really good things to say. The end of this video actually made me tear up a little. I've been fortunate enough in Swansea to have mostly escaped the modernist movement - while Swansea Council have been regenerating the Centre, this is its second regeneration and they're getting rid of what modernism there was. They've also done it and are continuing to do it in such a way as I think it feels more alive than it has in years. For example: Swansea Arena is built on top of its own car park, hiding the ugliness of car dependency under lovely green space, and letting the building be partially "underground" so it is not a massive hulk that dwarfs everything. While it doesn't solve the issue that is car dependency, nor get rid of the 4-6 lane stroad that cuts the city off from its own beach, it does *help.* Seeing the decline in other cities has opened my eyes to the decline in my own, and I think we need more and more people like you to try and "save" British cities before they turn into soulless replicas of American ones. Some of those shots where you were stood looking towards the "metal tube", and some of the aerial shots, really hammered home just how much concrete wasteland has filled Milton Keynes' centre. It's a city made for cars, not people. It's a city designed around cold, lifeless car parks and corporate entities, not the little people who make the cogs of the world turn, and I think that's sad.
